AI agents for manufacturing.

Plants, suppliers and paperwork that keep pace with demand.

Agents and data platforms for manufacturers, built into the ERP, MES and maintenance systems already in place, with people approving what matters.

What is changing
  1. 01Costs move quarterly, prices yearly

Energy, materials and freight change every quarter, while customer prices and contracts are set once a year.

  2. 02Downtime found too late

Maintenance follows the calendar or the breakdown, rarely the sensor data the plant already collects.

  3. 03Back office grows with output

Invoices, supplier documents and quality reports still pass through people, line by line.

Where AI pays back first

Agents across the manufacturing chain.

The agents Twistag builds most often for manufacturers, from supplier to invoice. Each one keeps a person on the decisions that matter.

01 · Source

Suppliers, quotes and certificates.

Supplier quote agent

Collects quotes, normalises prices, terms and lead times, and ranks them against history and supplier risk.

People approveBuyers choose the supplier; larger awards go to the category lead.

Supplier onboarding agent

Gathers certificates and financial data, runs risk checks and keeps supplier records current.

People approveProcurement approves new suppliers and any risk exception.

02 · Plan

Materials, stock and orders.

Replenishment agent

Reads sales, stock and supplier lead times, then proposes purchase orders and transfers between warehouses.

People approvePlanners approve orders above a set value or outside the usual pattern.

03 · Maintain

Sensors, work orders and crews.

Maintenance scheduling agent

Turns sensor alerts and work orders into a crew schedule, with parts checked before anyone is dispatched.

People approveSupervisors confirm safety-critical jobs and any planned downtime.

04 · Quality

Inspections, batches and drift.

Quality report agent

Pulls inspection data into batch reports, spots drift early and links each finding to the procedure behind it.

People approveQuality managers release every batch.

05 · Deliver

Carriers, delays and rebookings.

Shipment exception agent

Watches carrier updates, flags late or damaged shipments and drafts the rebooking and the customer notice.

People approveLogistics leads approve rebookings with extra cost.

Questions

About AI in manufacturing.

Which manufacturing processes should get an agent first?

The ones that repeat every day, follow rules a person can explain and are easy to check. Invoice matching, supplier onboarding and quality reports are common first choices. The AI Readiness Sprint ranks them for the specific company.

Which systems do the agents connect to?

The ones already in place: ERP, MES, maintenance (CMMS) and quality systems, supplier portals and carrier systems. Plant systems are read through existing interfaces, and agents never write to machine controls.

How long until the first agent runs every day?

Six to twelve weeks from scoping, on real data, with people approving each action until the results hold.

Where does plant and supplier data stay?

In the company’s own cloud or on its own servers. Each agent has its own access rights, and every action is logged.

How does the EU AI Act apply to manufacturing agents?

Each agent gets a risk classification before it goes live, with the controls that class needs. Back-office and planning agents are usually minimal risk; anything near safety-related decisions keeps a person on every action.
